Janome Memory Craft 10000Memory Craft 10001
The new Memory Craft 10001 is the most advanced Memory Craft ever. It has more ways to import and export designs than any other machine. It stitches out embroidery at twice the speed of the MC 9000. And it's the first Janome you can upgrade with software. But the most important thing about the Memory Craft 10001 is that it's the easiest sewing machine you'll ever use.

Active Matrix Touch Screen
Its large, color, crystal-clear Visual Display Touch Screen is exceptional. Although other models have color screens, this one is an active matrix - the same display quality found on the best laptop computers. The high degree of color resolution lets you see more shades when you preview your embroidery designs on screen. And you can view it from nearly any angle (up to 110º side to side). Passive matrix screens require you to view them from directly in front.

The Touch Screen can be sensitized to your unique touch. Each "3-D" key stands out clearly on the backlit screen, which displays embroidery designs in vivid color. Navigation is extremely intuitive with easily recognized icons, pop-up windows, and pull-down menus.

Along the bottom of the screen are Instant Switch-Over Mode Keys, allowing movement between general sewing, decorative stitching and embroidery with ease.

Instant Settings
Touch the stitch you want to use and the MC10001 automatically sets the tension, the stitch length and width, moves the needle into position, and shows you which presser foot to use. You can easily adjust the stitch settings by touching the Adjust key. As you change the stitch, the image on screen changes to show you what it will look like, and the needle moves to its position in real time, so you're immediately ready to tap the foot control and sew.

Advanced Embroidery Made Easy
When it comes to Professional-Style Embroidery, the Memory Craft 10001 stands apart. Its ease-of-use in creating and sewing designs is remarkable. And the quality of its embroidery stitching is unmatched by any other home machine. One reason is a more stable hoop mechanism, which makes precise stitches even near the edge of the hoop.
This patented, built-in embroidery mechanism eliminates the need to attach a large, ungainly external embroidery unit. Just touch the Embroidery key, attach the embroidery foot, and you're ready to go.
Adding to the MC10001's stitch quality is the patented Pre-Stitch Data Control System which anticipates embroidery speed changes and provides a gradual transition from one speed to another.

Hoops Great And Small
The MC10001 works with a variety of embroidery hoops, ranging from very small to very large. This is possible due to the new telescopic carriage arm that allows the embroidery hoop to travel a full 200mm forward or backward.

Standard Hoops

  • Medium at 4.3" x 4.3" (110mm X 110mm)
  • Large at 5.5" x 7.9" (140mm X 200mm)
  • Huge: the Giga Hoop at 10" x 10" (200mm X 200mm) is the largest embroidery hoop ever on a Memory Craft
  • Tiny: the first, true Free Arm Embroidery Hoop at just 2" x 2" is small enough to fit inside a shirtsleeve. Now you can embroider on cuffs, collars, pant legs (and other tight places) without having to take the garment apart.

    Beyond The Hoop
With the MC10000, your designs aren't limited by hoop size. Because our exclusive Clothsetter 10000 allows exact design placement, you can make embroidered designs of virtually any size. No other brand of embroidery machine allows you do so with such confidence and precision.

Embroidery Software
The MC10001 takes advantage of computer-aided embroidery better than any other home machine. Janome is releasing Customizer 10000 and Digitizer 10000 software designed specifically to take advantage of the MC10001's embroidery capabilities. However, you don't need a computer to do custom embroidery.

Built-In Editing
Using the built-in Embroidery Edit function, you can Resize, Horizontal and Vertical flip, rotate, and combine designs. Plus you can bring in lettering from four different fonts. Select the hoop size then position your design by dragging it with your finger, or use the jog keys to move it into exact position. Save your finished design to one of the machine's memory banks or an ATA PC card.
The Touch Screen gives you a full-color preview of what your finished design will look like, including the option of trying out different combinations of thread and background colors.

More Ways For Designs To Come In And Go Out

  • USB Port
The high speed Universal Serial Bus port is now standard on most new PCs. The Memory Craft 10001 is the first sewing machine to have this port built in. By connecting your machine directly to your computer, you can transfer complete, ready-to-stitch designs to your MC10001 in seconds. Once in your machine, they appear in full color, ready to be placed in position in the Embroidery Edit function.
The USB port will allow you to transfer files from the Internet, including future upgrades. Upgrades can also be loaded onto ATA PC cards, which can be read by the machine. You can have a brand new machine in one easy step.
  • Serial Port
The MC10001 was designed to use as many existing Memory Craft accessories as possible, including all the most recent Memory Cards. The serial port lets you connect your existing Customizer Reader/Writer box or the new Card Reader 10000 to your machine, allowing you to read all Memory Cards from #102 (except for Monogram cards) on. When you bring in Memory Card designs to the MC10001, you can duplicate and manipulate them in ways that have not been possible in a Memory Craft before. The serial port is also a direct connection option if your computer does not have a USB port.
  • ATA PC Cards
The MC10001 has the ability to read from and save to a standard computer memory device. An ATA PC card has ten times the memory capacity of a regular Memory Card, so it's a great place to store your design files for future use. Unlike a floppy disk, these "flash memory" cards have no moving parts, making them a more stable place to store your data. And, depending on the card, they can hold up to 320 MB of data - enough room to store your entire design library! Floppies can only hold 1.4 MB.
These new cards can also connect directly to most laptop computers, using the PCMCIA slot, and desktop PCs, using an inexpensive flash card reader, available where computers and digital cameras are sold. The PC card lets you create embroidery designs at your computer desk and then take them down the hall to your sewing room. And you can use these new cards to transfer design files back to your PC where you can store them or e-mail them to friends.
  • PC Design Cards
Janome is releasing designs in this new PC card format. Called PC Design Cards, they will have ten times the capacity of traditional Memory Cards and come with designs already in the new Janome Embroidery Format (.JEF). The first ten PC Design Cards debut with exclusive new Janome designs, including Martha Pullen's Heirloom Collection, Victorian Rose, and Doll Faces. And more are on the way.

Decorative Stitching

  • Customizing
Browsing through the MC10001's built-in decorative stitches, you find page after page of selections, including three complete monogramming alphabets. But it's only the beginning of your choices. Decorative stitches can be adjusted in finite increments so that the look you want can be achieved. Satin stitches can be elongated up to five times their original length without sacrificing stitch density. And with each adjustment, you can see at the top of the Touch Screen exactly how the stitch will change.
  • Combining
You can create combinations of up to 100 decorative stitches, customized or not. The possibilities are endless. After you've created your sequence of customized stitches, you can save it with your own unique name in one of the machine's one hundred built-in memory banks. Large design combinations can be viewed before sewing with the Check Memory Key that opens in a preview window.
  • Lettering
Within the Decorative Stitch library are three complete alphabets in 5 mm and 7 mm lettering, as well as a set of letter-size symbols like stars, bells, crosses, etc. Typing in lettering is even easier than customizing stitches. And you can easily go back and change individual letters. The MC10001 can save combinations of up to 100 letters in each of its 100 built-in memory banks. Can you spell "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?"
  • Heirloom
The precise stitching of the Memory Craft 10001 is especially well-suited to heirloom sewing. You can choose from dozens of these delicate stitches, including many you won't find on any other machine, like a genuine French Knot. Browse through page after page of fancy hemstitches, ornate scallop stitches, and intricate decorative stitches. All of the stitches in the Heirloom section can be easily modified with adjustment to width, length, and tension. And like all of the decorative stitches, each of these can be combined with with up to 99 other stitches and saved.

General Sewing
A lot of thought was put into streamlining sewing for garments, home decorating, and quilting. Push the Sewing Applications key and you have twelve of the most commonly used sewing functions in front of you. These include Seaming, Hemming, Zippers, Tacking Gathering, Basting, and sewing on Buttons. For each of these stitch sets, the MC10001 tells you which presser foot to use and sets your tension automatically.

Quilting
Embroidery has become an integral part of quilting. With the MC10001 you can move easily between the two. At the bottom of the Sewing Applications page are two sets of quilting functions. When you want to piece your quilt together, press the Patchwork key. You can choose from three stitches, including the lock-a-matic which secures your seam at both ends. After your first seam is completed, the Repeat Sewing option makes itself available to you. When you're ready to assemble your three layers together, press the Quilting key. You have your choice of six stitches, including a Free Quilting mode which you can use for free-motion effects like stippling. The extra-strong needle penetration and precise stitches make this an ideal machine for quilters.

Buttonholes
Perfect buttonholes can be difficult to make, unless you have the MC10001. This machine boasts the most advanced automatic buttonholes on any Memory Craft to date. Choose from eleven buttonholes, including five that are completely new. Styles include oval and keyhole buttonholes, as well as tailored, stretch, antique and welted buttonholes.
Simply set your button in the Sensor buttonhole foot, which automatically measures it and stitches the hole to the exact size. There is no need for tedious programming to repeat the same buttonhole over and over. Again, the strong needle penetration and precise stitch mechanism ensures professional results even on the thickest fabric. You're free to customize your buttonholes in length, width, and tension. The machine will return to the standard settings by pressing the Default key.

Strong And Silent
Another breakthrough for the MC10001 is its motors. Using the latest electronics, new "stepping" motors give higher precision stitching while creating less noise. This actually improves the already legendary Janome stitch quality. And the added muscle translates into more powerful needle penetration, allowing you to sew through multiple layers of fabric with ease. The new motor technology has also made the MC10001 twice as fast as the MC9000. But even at its top speed, the machine has a soothing, soft sound.
